Dear Mrs. Duenas,
This blog is in support of our homework we had this year. We did get a good amount of homework for the coming 6th graders. Please re-assure them that this is not too much homework, and that if they do their homework, you will give them more free time. Homework is practice and is good for studying. Sometimes, when we had an upcoming final, I used to read textbooks, notes (INB) and look over my homework. Please encourage your students to study this way.
LP packets can be fun, too. Mrs.Duenas, you should add a maze page or an extra activity page to motivate students to do their LP packets. 6th grade is getting you ready for 7th grade and the rest of your life. Tell them that just because the other 6th grade classes get less homework dosent mean that you giving them homework is unfair. Please read them this message and tell them to do their best, they have come a long way and they should make it the best last year of elelmentary school. ![]()

Hi every one of you new sixth graders. Hope you have had a great break. If you do your homework on time + all your work, you will do outstanding and have a great, fun, exciting year. If you don’t, well the complete opposite. If your worried about homework, DON’T WORRY AT ALL!! Most likely, if you are a good student, you’ll have 1 hour of homework MAX AND THIS IS RARE. I normally had 30-45 mins. If you procrastinate on projects, well this will be you when you are up at 1 A.M. In other words, DON’T PROCRASTINATE- that means: don’t put off assignments until the last minute. Follow your Agenda and plan out your assignments. Mrs. D. helps you to plan out your assignments: daily and long-term. The last, and probably one of the most important to get good grades, is to be organized and a clean desk. If you follow your Agenda, do all of your BEST work, study for tests and quizzes, stay on task, set goals, etc., you should get good grades. All in all, have fun in this class. Don’t be stressed about anything in school homeowrk, tests, etc.
See you all on your first days of school!

Hello In-Coming 6th Graders,
Here’s a couple things that you should know before entering the doors of Mrs. Duenas’s class room. One never be tardy to school. And don’t be late with turning in your homework. She dislikes grading homework that was due 3 days ago. Number two, don’t be afraid to ask questions. That’s what teachers are for(!): to answer question and help you build your education. Do your best on the STAR test! (Cheesy yes, I know, but it really is important.) About the INB’s: plan ahead what your going to do the day before you do it. LP’s might seem like a TON of work, least I thought it was, but when I got into the swing of it all, I learned to break down the assignments to a couple each day.
That’s all the basic things I think you should know.

Have a good school year.

Welcome new sixth grade students in Mrs. Duenas’s class. When you begin sixth grade it will seem like you have alot of of homework. After a while, you will get use to it. It is very important to make sure that you do your homework and turn it in on time. Don’t procrastinate, or wait until the last minute, to do you major projects. If you do procrastinate you will probably get a bad grade. Don’t worry about not knowing when or how to do your assignments because Mrs. D will help plan your projects out. So listen and take good notes. Use your Agenda. If you’re having trouble with anything, make sure you ask questions. If you do everything that you’re suppose to, study, and stay on top of your assignments, you will be fine.
Have a fun last year of elementary school.

Some of the advice I’d give would be to be organized and to listen. Always know where your things are so you don’t spend a lot of your time looking for then and owing your lunch or recess. You should ALWAYS listen because Mrs. D might tell you where to put something and if you don’t listen you’ll most likely lose it and then get a zero. You should also listen because that’s what you’ll have to do for the rest of the years you go to school. And whenever I had to make a difficult choice I would remember a saying a man said in the story a “A Passage to Freedom” do what’s right because it’s right. this is the most valuable advice I can give them.

Hello all you new sixth graders. I think that you should know some things about Mrs. D and her classroom rules. Mrs. D likes papers organized, neat, and your work to be shown- especially in math. Always put your name or she will throw it away and you will get a 0– so always write your name. Always come prepared. Mrs. D always enjoys watching Chowder she also likes Hello Kitty. Never stop striding for success.

Dear New Sixth Graders,
I learned a lot in sixth grade from Math to Social Studies. In Mrs. Duenas’s class, you may or may not change classes with other teachers, but last year I changed for Math. You will do this to help you with seventh grade because in seventh grade you change classes. Now for some hints. #1, do your homework. #2, listen in class. And #3, try your best. The main thing you want is to get A’s and B’s. To get A’s and B’s, you need to listen and do homework. The best thing in Sixth grade is Mission Springs. At Mission Springs, you camp out for a week and learn about the forest and many animals that live there. One other Feild trip is Imax theater. Have a great last year at Foulks Ranch.

Hi, to all of you new sixth graders. You may have been told that in Mrs. D’s class there is a lot of homework. Well there is not, at least as long stay on task and listen during clss, then you will finish your homework very fast. Also always remember to keep organized with all of your things. Do NOT throw away papers unless you are told to, or do not crinkle up papers that need to be turned in. Make sure that your homework is always turned in on time, and study for all of your quizzes and tests. Also do not forget to put your name on your paper! If you do these things and work hard, you should get good grades and be sucessful in sixth grade. Have fun!

Dear new sixth graders,
Let me give you some advice on how to survive the sixth grade. First of all, always do your homework…don’t leave it for later or for the morning, trust me you’ll forget. Second, always turn things in on time. Mrs. Duenas doesn’t appreaciate late or missing work. Who would blame her? And third always try your absolute best!! Not 100%, but 200%.
It is also very important to ASK QUESTIONS!!! If you don’t understand something and forget to ask Mrs. Duenas about it…well lets just say that it will show up on your star test. Do not procrastinate (A.K.A waiting till the last minute.) If you start a report or essay the day before it’s due…well it probably won’t turn out very well.
GOOD LUCK SIXTH GRADERS!!!
